| Friday, January 27, 2012The "holiday" radio ratings (December 8 - January 4) for the Virginia Beach-Norfolk market (6+ demo) were released to the public today at 5 p.m. by Arbitron. Entercom has three of the Top 4 stations with its Holiday/AC "2WD" WWDE/101.3 on top and Urban AC "95-7 R&B" WVKL a close second.
Waaaay behind in third was Max Media Classic Hits/AC "92-9 The Wave" WVBW followed by a tie between Entercom's Rhythmic "Z104" WNVZ/104.5 and Clear Channel Urban "103JAMZ" WOWI/102.9, Saga rocker "FM99" WNOR/98.7, a tie between Classic Hits "106-9 The Fox" WAFX and Max Media Country "97-3 The Eagle" WGH, the other station doing holiday music/Classic Hits "Magic 105-3" WVMA, and Max Media CHR "Hot 100.5" WVHT round out the Top 10.

It's been reported that Raycom Media "NBC12" WWBT Richmond will pick up the Me-TV (Memorable Entertainment Television) diginet beginning Monday, February 6 at noon to air over-the-air on 12-2. According to Me-TV's website, the diginet "features a wide range of classic television programming."Channel 12 has been airing First Warning Weather on its digital subchannel.

Last month, Hampton Roads Educational Telecommunications Assoc, Inc (WHRO) signed on a new radio station in Emporia, WHRL/88.1. The station is a satellite of NPR/News WHRV/89.5 Norfolk.In a deal with Roanoke Valley Communications (RVC), WHRO picked up the 88.1 signal from them and also got RVC's new station 90.5/Williamston NC to protect the first adjacent full service Class B signal of WHRO/90.3 Norfolk.
Including WHRL/88.1, WHRO has signed-on eight new radio signals this past year.

| Monday, January 9, 2012Over the holidays, the FCC approved an application from Liberty University to move it translator at 97.7/Suffolk (W249BH) to 107.3 and increase its power to a 250 watts (directional).
In the application, Liberty stated that it needed to find a new frequency because it will be displaced by Lifeline Ministries (soon to be owned by Educational Media Foundation, K-Love) full service Class C2 WGTI/97.7 Winfall NC. Liberty is the landlord of the WGTI tower site and says, "construction of WGTI is imminent."
Also in the application, the new 107.3 signal will rebroadcast the signal of WHRO-HD4 which is doing Liberty's "Victory FM," based in Lynchburg. This will compliment with what Liberty recently started doing on its 98.3/Virginia Beach (W252CB) signal.

| Friday, December 30, 2011Max Media Hampton Roads (WVBW/92.9, WVSP/94.1, WGH/97.3, WVHT/100.5, WGH/1310) is fined $8,000 by the FCC for "failing to comply with the recruitment and self-assessment requirements" of the FCC's EEO (equal employment opportunity) policy.
The FCC said Max Media didn't advertise job vacancies with enough different media outlets. Five, of its 14 full-time vacancies, were filled "solely on Internet websites and word-of-mouth referrals and vacancy postings on the employee board ... over a two-year period."

SKY Television's Independent "SKY4TV" WSKY Manteo/Chesapeake will return to the DirecTV local channel line-up on January 1, 2012. The station was dropped three years when papers to be filed for continuing carriage on DirecTV were too late. DirecTV is only carrying Channel 4 is SD (standard definition).
In other WSKY news, the station is dropping NBCUniversal/InterMedia Partners' Universal Sports seen over-the-air on channel 4-2 and on Verizon FiOS (channel 464). The network is repositioning itself as a national sports network (and going high definition) instead of an over-the-air digital multicast (diginet) network beginning January 1.We've learned that the station at this time is not replacing the channel with another diginet.

Red Zebra Broadcasting's Sports "102.1 The Game" WXTG Virginia Beach has had to reduce its power due to an internal failure of their antenna. The station which usually broadcasts directional at 6K watts is now doing just 375 watts non-directional.Listeners in Norfolk, Portsmouth, northwestern Chesapeake and NE NC might have (much) more trouble picking up The Game on FM but the station also simulcasts on AM 1490 Hampton.
Full power is expected in mid-January 2012 when the new antenna is installed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE... WXGM XTRA 99.1 FM in Gloucester presented "THE MOST FUNNEST CHRISTMAS CONCERT E-V-E-R on December 9th. The concert featured Timothy Seamen, Juniper Green, Ralph Motley and the Last Minute Grass, Nate Sparks and featured 2010 and 2011 Grammy Nominee Judy Pancoast. The concert was held at the Lighthouse Worship Center and attracted over 900 people.Over 2 tons of food was collected for the Bread For Life Community Food Pantry and $1,500 worth of Christmas Cards was sold benefiting the Richmond Hospital Education Program.

With these HD channel launches, Hampton Roads customers now have access to 103 HD channels.
