:// Richmond stations want to move, improve coverage
  |

The University of Richmond's College Variety WDCE/90.1 wants to increase it's power to 2.3kW from just 100 watts using a directional antenna according to a recent FCC filing. The new application would greatly increase the station's coverage especially to the west, north and east from the school where WDCE's antenna is located...

Main Line Broadcasting's 70s-60s Hits WBBT/107.3 Powhatan wants to change its COL (community of license) to Chester Courthouse and move it's antenna dead smack into the Richmond metro. Right now, they broadcast from a tower near the Rte 288 and Midlothian Turnpike intersection...

Fifth Estate Communication's WHAN Ashland was granted a CP (construction permit) over 2½ years ago to change its COL to Victoria, move to 650AM from 1430AM and become a daytime-only station but doing 50kW. They would broadcast way out near Amelia Court House. Currently, they do 1,000 watts during the day but just 31 watts at night. In an application just filed with the FCC, WHAN now wants to change its COL to Powhatan, transmit a bit closer to Richmond (from near Fine Creek Mills) at 23kW during the day and 14kW during critical hours (sunrise to two hours after sunrise and from two hours before sunset until sunset, local time)...
